In 2004, Mary Ellen Maggitti retired from her 26-year career as Controller with Vimco Inc., a distributor and manufacturer of specialty construction products and equipment. She has significant expertise in accounting systems development, fiscal management and financial reporting.
Mary Ellen believes that good work doesn't end with retirement. She has decided to share the skills and training she has gained in the world of work by engaging in a second career of service to her community and people in need. Since 1996, she has been an active volunteer, lending her years of experience to a number of local schools and organizations. She has served on various fundraising campaigns and event committees at both Malvern Preparatory School, where she is also a member of the Malvern Prep Leadership Council and the St. Augustine Alumni Award Selection Committee, and the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, where she is the Foundation Chair. Mary Ellen is also currently active with the Order of St. Augustine, Province of Saint Thomas of Villanova, where she is a member of the Development Council and the Augustinian Partners, a volunteer group. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Ace Technology Group, an IT service and support firm located in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
Throughout her professional career, Mary Ellen has had many roles; however, she considers her role as "working mother" to be her most significant. Today she resides in Devon, Pennsylvania, and her three adult children live nearby.
Prior to joining the Board of breastcancer.org, Mary Ellen was active on our "Take the Fright Out of Breast Cancer" Event Committee. "Working on the Fright event gave me the opportunity to get to know firsthand the purpose of the organization and the people committed to the mission. They are making a positive difference in the lives of women around the world. It is good work, the kind that makes you want to be part of it."
