Melanie Bone M.D., FACOG, is a board-certified Ob/Gyn in private practice in West Palm Beach, Florida. She also is a breast cancer survivor; she was diagnosed with Stage lll breast cancer in 2000.
Melanie is involved in many community organizations. She was President of the Board of Directors of the Hope Project, a mobile mammogram unit which provides screening mammograms to uninsured and underserved women in Palm Beach County. For many years, Melanie served on the Executive Committee of the Florida Ob/Gyn Society, a 1200-member physician specialty organization in the state.
Melanie has received numerous awards, including March of Dimes Woman of the Year 1999, Palm Beach Medical Society Women's Advocacy Award 2000, American Jewish Committee Woman of Valor 2003 and Woman of Vision 2003 of the American Committee for the Weiztmann Institute of Science.
Melanie received her college degree in Russian language and English literature from Georgetown University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1981. She was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society. She graduated medical school from Albany Medical College in 1985, where she was admitted to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She did her internship and residency at George Washington University Hospital and was appointed Chief Resident there in 1989. After serving on the GW faculty for two years, Melanie moved to Florida.
Because of her own experiences with cancer, Melanie has written a book entitled A Journey Through Cancer. She has also developed a not-for-profit company called Chemocomforts that produces goods to ease cancer treatments.
In her "spare" time, Melanie is a mother of four children ages 11, 10, 9, and 8. She loves to run, hike and climb mountains and finds her best inspiration outside in nature.
