Carol Connor is a judge on the South Carolina Court of Appeals. She has been a judge for over 18 years. Before becoming an appellate judge, she was the first woman in South Carolina to be elected to the circuit court. She was also the first woman elected to the Court of Appeals. Carol lives in Columbia, South Carolina, with her husband and three sons.
Carol was originally diagnosed with breast cancer on a routine mammogram in 1996. She had a lumpectomy, followed by chemotherapy and radiation. Ever since her doctor discovered liver metastases a year later, she has been on chemotherapy weekly. The cancer has yet to spread anywhere else. Carol has been very willing to try experimental therapies. "I don't think I would be alive today without information from web sites such as Breastcancer.org," she says.
