Karen Teitelbaum is a director at Gap International, Inc., a management consulting firm, where she leads programs and coaches executives of Fortune100 corporations to produce breakthrough results in their organizations. Karen also directs all public relations activities for Gap. Previously, she spent more than twenty years as a public relations professional, six as owner of her own Philadelphia PR firm, and before that, as an executive in a New York PR firm. Among her projects was the Michael Jackson "Victory Tour" for Pepsi-Cola.
When Karen was diagnosed with breast cancer, she was anything but docile about her treatment, questioning every suggestion of her doctors, resisting anything that sounded overly aggressive. "But my doctor read me the riot act and said she and her associate would drag me to chemo if it meant extending my life by just 5%. I decided I better start listening to the arguments for—as well as against—before I make up my mind." In short order, Karen became an active advocate for women with breast cancer, determined to help other women and their families access the critical information they need before, during, and after the breast cancer experience. Karen brings her passionate and valuable commitment to this cause to the Consumer Advisory Board of Breastcancer.org.
