Marci Waldman was born and raised in New York City. She has worked at CBS News for 20 years and is currently Unit Manager of CBS News's The Early Show and The Saturday Early Show.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2002, Marci turned to the Internet not only to gain knowledge about her disease, but also to help her make informed decisions about her treatment options. She researched her choices, questioned her doctors, and became a true partner in her treatment plan.

After completing six months of chemotherapy in December 2002, Marci began seven weeks of radiation therapy.

Marci discovered the Breastcancer.org web site early on in her web search, and truly found a life-line for herself. While family and friends were incredibly loving and supportive, it was the women on the Breastcancer.org Discussion Boards who gave her the strength daily.

In January 2003, Marci suggested and took part in a breast cancer series on The Early Show, called "The Cancer Connection," featuring herself, and three women she met on Breastcancer.org. Marci felt the television series was important not only for its informational value, but because she hoped that women across the country would find what she had found at Breastcancer.org: a true sense of empowerment and a virtual family.
