Pepper works for a prestigious International and Domestic Inspection Agency. She resides in Vancouver, WA, but will always be a California girl. She has a wonderful husband and son and their unconditional love keeps her firmly grounded in this world.
Pepper was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2002, at the age of 40, by a routine mammogram. This was followed by a lumpectomy, radiation, and Evista.
Upon diagnosis, Pepper immediately began researching the Internet for information and was having a difficult time deciphering fact from fiction. "Luckily," she says, "I was fortunate enough to find breastcancer.org. After several hours of reviewing this Web site, I knew this was where I needed to be to get accurate information that was going to empower me with knowledge that would help me be pro-active in my treatment."
Pepper continues: "My very first chat post read: "PLEASE HELP, I HAVE CANCER!" The outpouring of compassion and kindness I received from this one post was overwhelming. These women who shared this very same disease with me took me under their wings and nurtured me with words that I will always remember: "We are here for you."
Now that I am a "veteran" at bc.org, I have said these very same words to those newly diagnosed women who find themselves struggling with this disease. These women possess such courage and strength that they dazzle me.
I am honored to be part of a team that encourages women to be pro-active, to research, to nurture one another and to know that they are not alone in their battle to heal their bodies as well as their souls."
