Wendy Wineburgh Dessanti is a woman of many talents. She studied English at the State University at Albany, New York, and received an advanced certificate in Marketing and Advertising at New York University, followed by an MBA in Marketing Management at Pace University. A successful Realtor in Bergen County, New Jersey, Wendy has won numerous awards for her work, and was elected to the New Jersey State Million Dollar Club for five years. She is also the mother of two daughters and has been president of her children's elementary school parent-teacher organization for some years, as well as the vice president of the local synagogue.

Wendy was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2001. "When I was told I would need a mastectomy after having a lumpectomy," she says, "I was devastated. After talking to women who had similar experiences and doing a lot of research, I realized that a mastectomy was totally appropriate, and could then accept it better and move on with my recovery. breastcancer.org has been an invaluable resource to me, particularly the live conferences. As someone who's always been involved with my community, I'm now directing my energies to health and breast cancer awareness and education."
