Emily Conant, M.D., is Chief of Breast Imaging at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia. She is a pioneer in the development of digital mammography, and a leader in research on the use and benefits of early mammography screening and on the role of MRI and PET scanning. She is also the recipient of grants from the National Institutes of Health to compare standard surgical biopsy with digital mammography and stereotactic core breast biopsy (biopsy guided by an imaging study). Philadelphia Magazine named Dr. Conant one of its "Top Docs." She's also been a featured expert in national media including "Good Morning America," CBS News, USA Today, The New York Times, and Redbook Magazine.

"Breast imaging is a rapidly growing field with many new emerging technologies that have improved our ability to detect and diagnose breast cancer at its earliest and most curable stage," Dr. Conant says. "Breastcancer.org provides an invaluable opportunity to inform women about these imaging studies so they can ask the questions necessary to obtain the highest quality testing available."
