Ruth Oratz, M.D., F.A.C.P.

Ruth Oratz, M.D., F.A.C.P. is associate professor of clinical medicine at New York University School of Medicine. A fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Oratz graduated magna cum laude from Radcliffe College/Harvard University and received her M.D. degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She then completed her post-doctoral training in internal medicine and medical oncology at the New York University School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Oratz has been active in clinical research and is widely published in her field. She is a member of the Breast Cancer Research Committee of US Oncology and also teaches medical humanities and bioethics at the New York University School of Medicine.

Dr. Oratz is the founder of The Women's Oncology & Wellness Practice in New York City where she specializes in treating women with breast cancer and other malignancies, as well as women at risk for cancer. She is committed to helping women with cancer continue to live full, active lives using flexible treatment programs that address women's concerns about career, family life, relationships, and sexuality.

Dr. Oratz is active both locally and nationally as a speaker and healthcare educator, in live appearances and also on television and radio. She is a medical consultant to CancerCare and also serves on several advisory boards, including Cancer and Careers and Sharsheret: Linking Young Jewish Women in Their Fight Against Breast Cancer. Dr. Oratz has been listed in Redbook Magazine's "The Best Doctors in America" and in New York Magazine's "The Best Doctors in NYC."

Dr. Oratz is delighted to join the team at Breastcancer.org in order to help bring up-to-the-minute information to the breast cancer community. By sharing experiences and data, and encouraging participation in clinical trials, Breastcancer.org will contribute to our goal of finding more effective treatments for breast cancer while improving quality of life for women living with breast cancer.
