Thomas G. Frazier, M.D.

Page last modified on: August 14, 2008

Thomas G. Frazier, M.D., is Senior Attending Surgeon and Medical Director of the Comprehensive Breast Center at the Bryn Mawr Hospital, and Clinical Professor of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Much of his education and training was at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine and Hospital, and at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. Tom's hands-on skills and judgment as a surgeon, and his curiosity and cutting-edge research interests, make him an especially valuable resource for Breastcancer.org and the people who come to our site.

He has been a principal investigator for the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast Project (NSABP) since 1976, and a member of both the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons and the Board of Directors of the NSABP. He is also past president of the Philadelphia Metropolitan Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and president of the Philadelphia Academy of Surgery. Yet along with his busy surgical practice he always finds the time to participate in health education programs in the community. His research interests have included fine needle cytology, ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration, and sentinel node biopsies for breast cancer, as well as methods for partial breast irradiation (MammoSite brachytherapy).
