Breastcancer.org, a non-profit, web-based breast cancer information center, has been recognized for the third consecutive year as a leader among the 1,200 web sites entered in the annual eHealthcare Leadership Awards.

Judged by an independent panel familiar with healthcare and the internet, web sites were rated based on a standard of internet excellence and how they compared with others in their group classification. Breastcancer.org submitted the award-winning site under the "Consumer Disease-Focused Site" category, receiving medals of distinction in two areas:

  • BEST OVERALL INTERNET SITE.
    PLATINUM AWARD — top award

Factors considered: Delivery of strong health content, interactivity, medical care support, organizational integration, design strength and ease of navigation.
  • BEST HEALTH/HEALTHCARE CONTENT.
    PLATINUM AWARD — top award

Factors considered: Extent, balance, timeliness, organization and credibility of information; and ability to tailor material to individual needs.

"We are honored to be recognized as a top health care resource," said Dr. Marisa Weiss, practicing oncologist and founder of Breastcancer.org. "This year we celebrated our fifth anniversary of providing women with the accurate, complete, and easy-to-understand medical information they need to take control of their health. We are proud to continue that mission."

Breastcancer.org was solely awarded the top honor for Best Health/Healthcare Content, and shares the Platinum Award for Best Overall Internet Site with The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The eHealthcare Leadership Awards are presented by eHealthcare Strategy & Trends, the leading Internet publication and online resource.
