Annual Benefit Pays Tribute the Breastcancer.org Community

Ardmore, PA — September 23, 2013 — To mark National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Breastcancer.org will celebrate and honor the strength and courage of those affected by breast cancer at the 4th Annual Rock the Ribbon fundraiser. The yearly event is scheduled to take place on October 24, 2013 at Vie in Philadelphia, PA. Guests will enjoy a lively celebration and high-energy music from Chico’s Vibe, Philadelphia’s premier event band.

For more than 13 years, Breastcancer.org has been devoted to equipping people with real answers to complex questions about breast cancer and breast health. Since its inception, Breastcancer.org has grown to serve nearly 38 million people worldwide, becoming the leading online resource for breast cancer and breast health. With the most up-to-date, comprehensive medical information and a robust peer community offering support, Breastcancer.org empowers site visitors to make the best decisions for their lives.

“I am deeply touched, both personally and professionally, by the strength of our community and the generosity of our supporters. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on fundraising events like Rock the Ribbon to sustain the organization so we can better deliver on our mission. These contributions fund critical programs that reach people affected by breast cancer in a meaningful, necessary, and respectful way,” explained Hope Wohl, CEO. “It’s a privilege and honor to be engaged in such immensely important work.”

“Year after year, I’m astounded by the strength and radiance of the Breastcancer.org community. It’s an honor to recognize the millions of precious lives affected by breast cancer. I’m even more amazed by the outpouring of love and support that Breastcancer.org receives for Rock the Ribbon,” said Dr. Marisa Weiss, president and founder of Breastcancer.org. “It’s a resounding testament to the millions of lives that are touched by Breastcancer.org. “

As a symbolic tribute to all women undergoing breast cancer treatment, three members of the Breastcancer.org community were selected to be honored at this year’s Rock the Ribbon celebration. Each woman will receive a chic fashion look to wear to the event, provided by Nordstrom. The day of Rock the Ribbon, the honorees will be treated to salon services including hair styling, provided by Pileggi on the Square, and makeup. The women will then be transported to the event in style, courtesy of Uber.

Proceeds from Rock the Ribbon will help fund Think Pink, Live Green: Breastcancer.org’s global breast cancer prevention initiative, enhancements to Breastcancer.org’s current online content, and will help further expand the organization’s outreach to the Spanish-speaking community.

Lu Ann Cahn, veteran journalist, eight-time Emmy Award winner, co-host of The 10! Show, and breast cancer survivor will serve as the emcee for the night’s festivities. NBC10 is the media sponsor for the event. Corporate sponsors across the region have lined up to support Rock the Ribbon, and their generosity demonstrates the level of commitment Breastcancer.org receives from the community at large.

Rock the Ribbon begins at 6:00 p.m. Dinner stations, a dessert buffet, and an open bar will be available. Tickets are $250 per person and can be purchased at www.rockforbreastcancer.org.
