Lauren Hughes joined Breastcancer.org in September 2012 as director of development. Lauren is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and overall management of key philanthropic fundraising programs, including event activities, annual giving, and grants.
Lauren has over seven years experience in the nonprofit sector, with a rich background in nonprofit fundraising and community outreach, having worked at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and WHYY, the Philadelphia area’s public media organization. Lauren’s experience and expertise in e-fundraising, e-marketing, member/donor engagement, donor database management, and event management is a huge asset in her role at Breastcancer.org. Prior to joining the nonprofit world, Lauren worked in human resources for SMG, a facility management company, with a focus on recruiting and employee relations.
Lauren is a native of the Philadelphia region and graduated magna cum laude from Bucknell University with a bachelor’s degree in English and intellectual history. Lauren is a past president of the Bucknell Club of Philadelphia and remains involved with alumni activities in the Philadelphia area. A devoted urbanite, Lauren lives in Center City Philadelphia and is currently trying to build a running habit, completing her first marathon in November of 2011.
