Maria Duffy McDonald

Page last modified on: December 15, 2011

Maria joined Breastcancer.org in February 2010, quickly taking on the responsibility of managing the annual Rock the Ribbon celebration, Breastcancer.org's flagship event. Maria also directs a number of other major events including NYC Bowling for Breastcancer.org and the Breastcancer.org Golf Tournament. Through Maria's vision and guidance, special events have taken on a significant role in expanding the engagement of individuals and corporations and bringing important revenue to Breastcancer.org.

Maria began her career in her father's catering firm, Jimmy Duffy Catering, over 30 years ago by successfully developing a new market in the Princeton area that generated $1 million in sales annually. During this time, Maria received her B.A. in business administration from Immaculata University.

She later spent 4 years at the University of Pennsylvania managing events at the Wharton Sinkler Estate and the President's House. Maria's career continued at the People's Light & Theatre Company in Malvern, PA, where she was director of annual giving. While at People's Light, Maria successfully planned over 20 major annual events and managed the annual individual, foundation, and corporate giving.

Just prior to joining Breastcancer.org, Maria was the director of the Elite Companies Charitable Foundation. Maria worked closely with the Board of Directors to revamp the grant cycle for the Foundation, plan their fundraising events, and implement many successful community drives for nonprofit organizations in Chester County, PA.

"Events are critical for every organization, not merely from a fundraising objective. Events provide an opportunity for like-minded individuals to gather together to discuss, honor, and in many cases celebrate the important work of nonprofit organizations. I am honored to bring people together to acknowledge and affirm the work being done at Breastcancer.org."
