Sam Nakhoul Manjarrés joined Breastcancer.org in the spring of 2013 as the bilingual marketing associate. Sam’s role is to assist the marketing department with promoting Breastcancer.org en español and outreach to healthcare practitioners and advocates connected with the Hispanic community. Additionally, Sam is also responsible for social media and other external communications projects like e-newsletters.
Sam studied journalism in Venezuela, her native country, where she worked in strategic communications in the corporate environment and as a reporter for print and online media. In 2011, she moved to the Philadelphia area to pursue her M.A. in communications at Villanova University. During grad school she also interned for a year in the corporate relations department of an insurance company and wrote an ethnography about classical music performance and its power for social change.
“I hear every day in the halls of Breastcancer.org the words cancer, breast, education, tamoxifen, research, support, prevention, women… our women, our community, and more. I am happy that I get to be part of that voice in both English and Spanish.”
