"I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer at 31. It was also in my lymph nodes. So far I am 9 treatments in on Taxol/Carboplatin. My greatest struggle with the chemo has been fatigue and neuropathy of my hands and feet. Before chemo I was a young strong mom who had lost 75 pounds without a gym. Now I struggle to play with my 2- and 6-year-old boys. Unexpected side effects are feeling like I have a cold. My doctor says it's because I have no nose hair. I know that this too shall pass and I will get more years with my family. I try to take it one day at a time and not think about all that lays ahead. I am so lucky to have my husband and a great support system of friends.
"I even try to make chemo fun by having pink eyebrows and using the boob neck pillow my mom got me. She is also a 10-year breast cancer survivor. My mother has been a great source of strength for me. She lets me cry when I need to and gets what I have to put my body through. When I was told I had triple-negative breast cancer I was told that I might not respond to chemotherapy. I am very thankful to say that I have responded and my tumor has shrunk by more than half. Who knows how long I would have with my family had I just ignored it. I am so ready to see where life takes me. If you have triple-negative breast cancer, or just breast cancer period, feel free to follow my journey on http://www.youtube.com/user/jparcoop."
