This is a group of chemotherapy drugs. They kill cancer cells by stopping their growth. They can also make it hard for cancer cells to repair themselves.

Antimetabolite chemotherapy medications include fluorouracil, also called 5-fluorouracil or 5-FU (brand name: Adrucil); Gemzar (chemical name: gemcitabine); methotrexate, also known as amethopterin (brand names: Mexate, Folex, Rheumatrex); and Xeloda (chemical name: Capecitabine).
