(seh-REE-bral HEM-iss-feerz) The two halves of the cerebrum, that part of the brain that controls the body's muscle functions, as well as learning, speech, reading, writing, and emotions. The right hemisphere controls muscle activity on the left side of the body, and the left hemisphere controls muscle activity on the right side of the body.
