ER- [also called estrogen receptor negative]

Breast cancer cells without estrogen receptors. Estrogen receptors are special proteins that the hormone estrogen binds to. ER negative breast cancer cells do not depend on estrogen to grow. Anti-estrogen hormonal therapy has no role against this type of cancer.
