(EM-buh-lih-ZAY-shun) A procedure that blocks an artery with a clot or foreign material. This may be used to block blood flow to a cancer. As a result, the cancer starves, shrivels up, and dies off. This only works if a cancer is fed by one or very few blood vessels.
