trastuzumab (brand name: Herceptin)
A drug used to treat women with breast cancer that has too many HER2 genes, or too much HER2 protein. (This type of breast cancer is called HER2-positive.) It is available for women with advanced disease. It may be offered on a clinical trial to women with large cancer or cancer in the lymph nodes. The FISH and IHC tests can show if a cancer is likely to respond to this drug.
