Dear Breastcancer.org Community Member:
Since some breast cancer treatments can affect your future fertility, preserving your fertility can be a concern for you if you’re looking to start a family after treatment. You may have some questions: Will you still be fertile after treatment? What are some options for preserving your fertility? How does cryopreservation work? A separate but equally confusing reproductive issue is being diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant. You may be wondering if treatment is safe for you and your baby or what the treatment options include during pregnancy.
Join us tonight between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)* for this month's Ask-the-Expert Online Conference: Fertility and Pregnancy. Kutluk Oktay, M.D. and Leslie R. Schover, Ph.D. will answer your questions about breast cancer treatments that can affect your fertility, options for preserving your fertility, being treated for breast cancer while pregnant, and more.
Kutluk Oktay, M.D. is an internationally recognized specialist in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Center for Human Reproduction in New York and the director and founder of the Institute for Fertility Preservation (www.fertilitypreservation.org).
Leslie R. Schover, Ph.D. is a renowned psychologist with a special interest in helping people resolve or manage their sexual problems, especially those problems connected with a chronic illness such as cancer.
If you'd like to ask a question for our FERTILITY AND PREGNANCY conference, but will not be able to join the conference tonight, you can submit your question now at: http://chat.liveworld.com/events/ibreast/
We'll answer as many questions as we can during the conference. A conference transcript will be posted at Breastcancer.org by September 17, 2008.
To join the conference, go to www.breastcancer.org any time between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. EDT* tonight and click on the "Join Conference" button. It’s easy to participate; no special software is required. The live conference will appear in text on your screen.
