Generic Taxotere Gets FDA Marketing Okay (en inglés)
Taxotere (chemical name: docetaxel) is a chemotherapy medicine used to treat certain breast cancers. Taxotere typically is used in combination with other medicines. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic form of Taxotere. This might reduce the cost of docetaxel treatment, since generic medicines usually cost less than brand name medicines.
Docetaxel is a taxane chemotherapy. Taxanes work by interfering with the ability of cancer cells to divide. Taxol (chemical name: paclitaxel) and Abraxane (chemical name: albumin-bound paclitaxel) are other taxanes.
