Extent of scarring after mastectomy/reconstruction?

Read this page in English

Question from KatieD: My mom is about to have a mastectomy and I was wondering about scarring involved with the reconstruction (trans) and complications with the reconstruction.
Answers - Laura Martin After your mother's breast has been removed, the doctor will try to recreate a new breast by borrowing extra tissue from her belly, and moving it up into the breast area. This leaves a scar across your belly as well as at the breast area. We have beautiful illustrations of this procedure in Moving Beyond, Reconstruction.
