Information on PARP-inhibitor study for triple-negative breast cancer?

Question from DianneLi: What phase was the PARP inhibitor study in triple-negative women? How long will it be until PARP inhibitors are available to us?: Answer —Kathy Miller, M.D.: That's the question we would all like to know! The PARP inhibitor study that was reported earlier this year at ASCO was a randomized Phase II study that enrolled about 120 women. The FDA has required that those results be verified in a larger randomized Phase III trial. That Phase III trial is ongoing and will likely finish enrolling patients early next year, but it's difficult to predict how quickly we will have the results and perhaps more importantly how quickly the FDA will act once the results are available.

Kristin Brill, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a breast surgeon and clinical instructor at the Thomas Jefferson University Department of Surgery in Philadelphia, PA. She also maintains a practice in Cherry Hill, N.J. Dr. Brill is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In addition, she has published breast cancer research in medical journals such as Annals of Plastic Surgery and Cancer, and she has presented research at the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
