Research News on Benign and Cancerous Tumors

There are many different types of breast cancers, and also different types of breast abnormalities that are not cancer, but that may be warning signs of increased risk for the disease.

Three types of breast abnormalities that can indicate increased risk for developing breast cancer are:

  • atypical lobular hyperplasia (ALH)
  • atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH)
  • lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS)

What exactly are these conditions? What should you do if you have them?

In this section, we cover research that addresses these questions, and more.

These research reports are part of the breastcancer.org Research News program. Our experts examine recent breast cancer research for exciting advances, important updates, and changes in how breast cancer is treated and diagnosed. We present these studies in easy-to-understand language, explaining their importance, how they were conducted, and what impact the results might have for YOU.
