No ovary removal for triple-negatives?

Question from Speed: If I am ER/PR-negative and HER2-negative, can I assume that I would not benefit from getting my ovaries removed (i.e. reduce the risk of a recurrence) as my tumor did not rely on estrogen to grow?
Answer —Kathy Miller, M.D.: You understand that perfectly. Because your tumor was ER-negative and progesterone-receptor-negative, any therapy that works by decreasing the production of estrogen or blocking the effects of estrogen in the body would not be expected to impact your breast cancer.
