How to find a sleep psychologist?

Page last modified on: October 16, 2008
Question from CJ-3: How do I go about finding a sleep psychologist?
Answers —Helena Schotland, M.D.: The first thing I would do is look for a sleep center, accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine has a website, which is www.aasmnet.org. Another place to look is the National Sleep Foundation. They should have links to accredited sites.
Marisa Weiss, M.D., president and founder: Are there sleep support groups?
Helena Schotland, M.D.: There are many sleep support groups around the country. Some meet at hospitals, some meet more in community centers, and some of them meet in actual sleep centers. You can find out about them probably in the same places.

On Wednesday, January 17, 2007, our Ask-the-Expert Online Conference was called Sleep Well: Healthy Habits for Good Rest. Helena Schotland, M.D. and moderator Marisa Weiss, M.D. answered your questions about ways to improve your sleep.
