Barbara Hoffman, J.D. is a member of the Legal Research and Writing faculty of Rutgers Law School B in Newark and is the founding chair of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship. She is the author of numerous book chapters, articles, and consumer booklets on the legal rights of cancer survivors. She is the editor of A Cancer Survivor’s Almanac: Charting Your Journey. She has spoken at more than 100 conferences and programs about cancer survivorship. She has served as a consultant to the National Cancer Institute, comprehensive cancer centers, nonprofit organizations, and Web sites. Professor Hoffman is the recipient of the President’s Award from the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship and of an Image Award from DateAble, Inc.
Irene Card is president of Medical Insurance Claims, Inc., a health insurance services company in New Jersey, which she founded in 1980. Ms. Card is the former insurance advisor to the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship and Memorial Sloan Kettering Post Treatment Resource Program. She authors a column, "Understanding Your Health Insurance" which appears in numerous newspapers. She is a recipient of the Excellence in Cancer Care Award presented by the American Cancer Society and North West Covenant Health Care Systems.
Ruth Oratz, M.D., F.A.C.P. is associate professor of clinical medicine at New York University School of Medicine. She is the founder of The Women's Oncology & Wellness Practice in New York City where she specializes in treating women with breast cancer and other malignancies, as well as women at risk for cancer. Dr. Oratz is committed to helping women with cancer continue to live full, active lives. She is active both locally and nationally as a speaker and healthcare educator, in live appearances and also on television and radio. She is a medical consultant to CancerCare and also serves on several advisory boards, including Cancer and Careers and Sharsheret: Linking Young Jewish Women in Their Fight Against Breast Cancer. Dr. Oratz is also a member of Breastcancer.org's Professional Advisory Board.
