Sara Cohen, O.T.R./L., C.L.T.-L.A.N.A. is an occupational therapist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where she works with patients who have had breast cancer and lymphedema. She is also certified as a lymphedema therapist by the Lymphology Association of North America. She uses a wide range of therapeutic approaches to customize treatment for each person's unique condition. Her main goal is to help her clients assess the impact of lymphedema on their daily lives, and to provide options for managing this frustrating and perplexing condition. She has authored and co-authored articles in the journals Cancer, OT Practice, and Community Oncology about lymphedema and the role of occupational therapy in its management.
Saskia Thiadens, R.N. is a nurse and the founder and executive director of the National Lymphedema Network (NLN), a non-profit organization providing education and guidance to health care professionals and women affected by lymphedema. The NLN also advocates for standardized treatments for women affected by lymphedema nationwide, and supports research on the causes and possible alternative treatments for this condition.
Breastcancer.org Founder and President Marisa Weiss, M.D. is the co-author of the new book, Taking Care of Your “Girls:" A Breast Health Guide for Girls, Teens, and In-Betweens and the acclaimed book, Living Beyond Breast Cancer. She frequently serves as a responsible voice on breast health and breast cancer to live and print media, including ABC’s Good Morning America, NBC’s TODAY, CNN breast cancer segments, Lifetime TV, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today. Dr. Weiss speaks regularly at national conferences and is the recipient of awards from the American Cancer Society, Coping magazine, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. She served two terms on the National Cancer Institute Director's Consumer Liaison Group, with a special interest in strengthening the sacred patient-doctor relationship.
