Improve bone strength, yet avoid calcium?

Question from Trish: I have been diagnosed with hypercalcemia and osteopenia. How can I improve my bone strength if I should avoid calcium?
Answer —Cyndi Thomson, Ph.D., R.D.: Weight bearing exercise is one approach. It's also important to remember that other nutrients are important to bone health, including vitamin D, phosphorus, vitamin K, magnesium and recent reports indicate that iron may also be important.
