Potential uses: It is claimed to treat extreme weight loss caused by cancer.
Usual dose: Oral and intravenous forms are available, but outside of clinical trials, it is not approved for use by the FDA.
Are there any risks? Possible side effects include nausea, dizziness, numbness and tingling, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
What does the research show? Several large clinical trials have not shown any benefits from taking hydrazine sulfate.
