Massage spreads breast cancer cells?

Question from DenverMom: Does massage contribute to the spread of breast cancer cells to the lymph nodes?

Answers —Raymond Chang, M.D.: I think that is an ongoing concern. I don't mind my patients doing that.
Beth DuPree, M.D., F.A.C.S.: It's a big debate.
Raymond Chang, M.D.: I don't have a final answer. Certain locations no. On the torso, or a foot massage, I don't feel would be a problem. It's location related.
