Mastectomy Plus Radiation

Radiation may be recommended after mastectomy if:

  • the tumor is larger than 5 centimeters
  • the tissue removed during mastectomy does not have clear margins
  • cancer cells are found in 4 or more lymph nodes
  • the cancer occurred in a number of locations within the breast
