Communications Manager, Social Media


Position summary

We’re expanding our team and looking for an energetic communications manager with a focus on social media to grow organic engagement and paid strategy, as well as support brand building initiatives. This opportunity includes content ideation, creation, curation, and optimization. The manager will develop brand awareness across social media platforms, drive traffic, analyze performance, and provide timely and relevant resources to our social community. 

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and a strong writer, with excellent project management skills. Proven success in leading business social media solutions is mandatory. Having an interest in patient advocacy and helping people affected by breast cancer is central to this role, as is an empathetic approach.

This position will report to the Communications Director and will work closely with the other members of the communications and marketing team. 



  • Develop and lead a social media strategy for

  • Write, edit, proofread, copy edit, and design graphics for social media

  • Plan and implement a daily social media calendar to engage and grow our community

  • Develop and manage paid social ad campaigns, making recommendations on budget, flight, platform, design, copy, etc.

  • Contribute to thought leadership strategy and implementation through Facebook Live, Instagram Live, and other PR opportunities

  • Evaluate and report on social media analytics and consumer insights; make data-driven decisions

  • Distill stories and breast cancer news, including oncology conference coverage, for the social media audience

  • Monitor and listen to social conversations and respond accordingly

  • Stay on top of the latest industry news, social trends, and accessibility features

  • Regularly evaluate the monitoring and digital marketing tools the organization uses and make recommendations for improvement



  • 4+ years experience in social media strategy, including professional writing

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • Professional experience in health, media, a marketing agency, or a relevant industry

  • Experience with social media management for a business and analytics tools

  • Experience with Canva and/or video creation is a plus

  • Experience with nonprofit fundraising on social media is a plus

The ideal person for this role will have the ability to:

  • Demonstrate excellent judgment, thoughtfulness, and the appropriate tone when communicating on behalf of the organization 

  • Be solution-oriented, adaptable, determined, and have a positive attitude

  • Manage several simultaneous projects, campaigns, and tasks with the ability to re-prioritize as necessary and ask for help when needed

  • Learn new programs and technology quickly

  • Connect with our mission to empower people with breast cancer, which is the driving force behind all of our work


Hours and location

  • This is a full-time position with healthcare benefits

  • Remote work with occasional meetings in Philadelphia and New York City
