Andrea Tamayo is a science journalist who writes about public health, medicine, and the environment for publications such as Science, Science News Explores, and The Mercury News. Andrea is also a science writing intern at Your Local Epidemiologist, a newsletter that translates public health science to over 246,000 subscribers. In 2023, they spent a summer in Raleigh, N.C., as an AAAS Mass Media Fellow at The News and Observer. She has a master’s in science communication from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and bachelor's degrees in microbiology and international studies from the University of Florida.
