Potential uses: It's thought that reishi mushrooms can boost immune function.
Usual dose: 1 1/2 to 9 grams of dried mushroom pieces OR 1 to 1 1/2 grams of mushroom powder OR 1 milliliter of liquid mushroom tincture per day. A tea can also be made from the mushrooms.
Are there any risks? Some people may be allergic to reishi mushroom spores. With extended use (longer than 6 months), other side effects include dry mucous membranes, itchiness, stomach upset, and bloody stools.
What does the research say? There are not enough reliable studies to determine whether reishi mushrooms are beneficial. No clinical studies show any influence on breast cancer.
