Hi everyone! My name is Jeanne Kennedy, and I’m 33 years old. My husband is Patrick, and I’m a mother of two amazing boys: Ethan, 9, and Harrison, 4. We live in New Orleans, Louisiana.
I’m a wife, a daughter, a sister, and a friend, but I’m also living with stage IV breast cancer. I was diagnosed in March of 2016 with a tumor in my left breast. The doctors told me that it was stage IIa -- maybe IIb. After the shock and consultations with about four different doctors, I decided a double mastectomy with reconstruction was the right choice for me.
Six weeks after surgery, I was sent to see an oncologist and she ordered some additional testing. That is when I received the news that the cancer had already spread.
Treating and dealing with cancer is a very personal and different experience for everyone, but I have been trying integrative therapies, yoga, and spiritual healing and it has made a huge difference for me. Hearing news like that is devastating, but then you decide how you are going to handle it. That is when my entire life changed. There are always ups and downs, but having cancer has given me the gift of viewing life and everything about it in a completely different way.
I’m really looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned through my experiences, and I hope you’ll tune in for regular video updates!
