Tonya's Preventive Mastectomy: All My Sisters Had Breast Cancer

"I can finally live without that fear." All six of Tonya's sisters were diagnosed with breast cancer. Because of this strong family history, Tonya chose to have a prophylactic mastectomy and breast reconstruction, and searched for a plastic surgeon with experience in treating Black women.
