In 2000, Dr. Marisa Weiss founded Breastcancer.org with the vision of providing a safe place for people to go any time of day to get trusted answers to their questions about breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

She knew that the limited time at doctor appointments was not enough to provide patients with the information needed to manage life after an overwhelming diagnosis.

25 years later, Dr. Weiss reflects on the challenges and triumphs of growing a non-profit while raising kids and working full time as a radiation oncologist.

“In my wildest dreams, I never imagined that we would be helping 250 million people,” said Dr. Weiss.

Her own life-shattering breast cancer diagnosis 14 years ago deepened her commitment to ensuring every person with breast cancer has the information and support they need.
