Marisa Weiss, M.D. For women who have mouth sores due to treatment effects, stay away from any foods that are acidic, spicy, or hot in temperature. Acidic foods include tomato sauce, orange juice, grapefruit juice. I think the easiest consistency of food to swallow is applesauce, not of water consistency. Milk products can soothe a sore throat.
