Dr. McTiernan is an internist and epidemiologist who studies ways to prevent new or recurrent cancer through lifestyle factors such as weight control and physical activity. She also studies chemoprevention — the use of medications, vitamins or supplements — to reduce obesity, inflammation and other markers of cancer risk.
