Taneia Surles, MPH

 

Taneia Surles, MPH, is a writer, editor, and public health professional specializing in sexual health and wellness. She has experience covering a wide variety of topics, including aging, oncology, sexual health, mental health, and nutrition.

In addition to her work at Breastcancer.org, Taneia has written short—and long-form health content for publications such as AARP, BlackDoctor.org, Business Insider, Everyday Health, Healthline, Healthywomen, Next Avenue, and Patient Power.

She holds a bachelor’s in public health and minority health disparities and a master’s in public health with a concentration in Health Behavior from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Before transitioning into full-time freelance work, worked in the public health field as a community outreach coordinator at HAPPI Health and as an administrative community health worker at North Alabama Community Care. She also was the content manager for the health tech start-up Chronius Health, where she worked on web copy, blogs, and social media content.

Taneia is an associate member of the Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ). She is also a member of the Delta Omega Upsilon Chapter, a public health honor society at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
