For Immediate Release

[PHILADELPHIA, PA] — During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Walgreens and Breastcancer.org have teamed up to provide educational resources and vital support to people affected by breast cancer. Beginning October 8, Walgreens customers will have the opportunity to donate to Breastcancer.org at checkout in Walgreens stores nationwide and in Puerto Rico. This initiative will continue through October 30, encouraging customers to support the cause by donating at checkout.

As part of this collaboration, all donations collected will directly fund Breastcancer.org’s educational resources and community support programs, which are available at no cost to patients and caregivers in English and Spanish worldwide. The funds raised will empower people with the tools and expert information they need to navigate their breast cancer journeys, from diagnosis to treatment and beyond.

“Breast cancer is the world’s most common cancer to affect women. People often have more questions than their doctor can address in an office visit, and openly searching the internet can lead to misinformation or suggestions not tailored to the person’s cancer situation. I started Breastcancer.org as a place for expert information and community support that people can count on as a trustworthy, free source to get the best care possible,” said Dr. Marisa Weiss, founder and chief medical officer for Breastcancer.org. “Our goal has always been to provide comprehensive, accessible support to anyone affected by breast cancer. Collaborating with Walgreens extends our reach and impacts more lives.”

Founded 25 years ago by breast oncologist Dr. Marisa C. Weiss, Breastcancer.org offers a wide range of online resources and programs to help people navigate every aspect of their life during and after breast cancer. From educational webinars, articles, and podcasts to virtual support groups and peer-to-peer connections, the organization is dedicated to making sure no one faces breast cancer alone. Breastcancer.org is currently working to help people learn more about solutions to the often debilitating side effects of chemotherapy.

“Collaborating with Breastcancer.org enables us to contribute to the support of those affected by breast cancer,” said Rina Shah, SVP of Pharmacy Growth, Walgreens. “At Walgreens, we understand that reliable information and community support are crucial for patients and their families. We are proud to invite our customers to participate in initiatives such as these, as each donation helps provide essential resources that support patients through their journey.”
