I was diagnosed in 2021 at the age of 34. The way I found out I had breast cancer was by walking in to the closest radiology office in dire attempt for a mammogram, after 7 months prior of which I was denied from my doctor.

During my battle with breast cancer, it was the stories of other survivors that kept me fighting towards the finish line. They were my inspiration, my light and my fuel to get to where they were. Treatments were tough. Breast cancer not only takes from you physically, but emotionally and mentally as well. It’s also different as a single, young survivor as it could take away from starting a family due to fertility complications and risks. It was devastating in so many ways, but a blessing to know how advanced we’ve come with treatments.

Life after cancer hasn’t been easy, as I struggled mentally to create a new normalcy and physically to adjust to my new body. But you just take each day one by one and keep giving yourself a pat on the back, because each day is another day you conquered and another day you were blessed with. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, so it’s a beautiful thing to be able to exist and cherish the simplest things.
