Katrina Armstrong, M.D., M.S.C.E.

Katrina Armstrong, M.D., M.S.C.E., is Assistant Professor of Medicine, Senior Fellow in the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, and Senior Scholar in the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Her research interest is screening and prevention, with particular focus on genetic testing for breast cancer susceptibility, risk communication, and improving decision-making surrounding post-menopausal therapy.

Katrina is an expert on the decision-making process, balancing pros and cons in difficult issues, to help the Breastcancer.org audience make sense of the tough choices they face, when no "right answer" seems clear. Her presence on the Breastcancer.org website rounds out our expertise and depth on the role of genes and genetic testing.

Dr. Armstrong currently holds a Clinical Research Training Grant from the American Cancer Society and a Measey Foundation Faculty Fellowship, and is a past recipient of a Preventive Oncology Career Development Award from the National Cancer Institute. Her publications include evaluation of the use of hormone replacement in women with BRCA1/2 mutations, cost-effectiveness of raloxifene in post-menopausal women, access to medications over the Internet, breast cancer risk assessment, and the relationship between ethnicity and use of BRCA1/2 testing.
