Michael DeLong, MD, is an assistant professor-in-residence in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. He completed medical school at Duke University, followed by a six-year integrated plastic surgery residency and microsurgery fellowship at UCLA. Dr. DeLong’s clinical and research interests primarily focus on breast reconstruction including implant and autologous options. He has also developed a national quality improvement program for breast reconstruction, now encompassing 91 participating sites across the United States.

An NIH-funded investigator and recipient of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Best Breast Paper award, Dr. DeLong is a recognized authority in FDA regulatory science. He completed a fellowship at the FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health and serves as a voting member of the FDA General and Plastic Surgery Devices Panel, helping guide national policy on surgical device safety and innovation.
