I had gotten mammograms for years, but in 2014 I was diagnosed with breast cancer exactly one year after the previous mammogram. Shock doesn’t even describe my feeling as I was rushed into surgery barely one month later. Recommended surgeon found the pinpoint cancer that also involved lymph nodes. All were removed and I was told I must start with chemotherapy followed by radiation.

The hardest part was losing all my hair after the first treatment! Cancer center fit me with a free wig which helped me get through the ugliest part of my treatment. I experienced one day of nausea at first, and was blessed with mild weakness the rest of my days of treatment.

My challenge 8 years later has been the thought of possible reoccurrence. My faith has helped me live each day and kept positive thoughts upmost on a daily basis.

I chose not to have reconstructive surgery, as I thrive with one breast smaller than the other!
