Bec Roldan is a science journalist and editorial fellow. They’ve covered health and science news for National Public Radio, Chemical and Engineering News, and Science. Bec is also a contributing writer for the American Chemical Society, where they write and edit for the chemistry history project, ACS Landmarks. In 2023, they spent a summer in Washington D.C. as an AAAS Mass Media Fellow at National Public Radio, where they wrote about domestic and global health for the Science desk. Bec has a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Rhodes College. At Michigan, they studied new ways to make compounds found in red wine that have potential health benefits and ran the interview-based podcast My Fave Queer Chemist.
