Marisa Weiss, M.D., chief medical officer and founder, is regarded as a visionary advocate for her innovative and steadfast approach to informing individuals to protect their breast health and overcome the challenges of breast cancer. Hope Wohl, CEO, has played a pivotal role in the continual reshaping of Breastcancer.org’s approach to patient engagement in an ever-changing landscape of science, technology, consumer behavior, and healthcare. Since 2000, her leadership has grown Breastcancer.org from an early Internet start-up to the leading digital resource for breast cancer information and peer support.
Anne Altomare, executive assistant, is responsible for coordinating and managing the founder and chief medical officer's calendar, meeting needs, and travel, as well as overseeing general office needs. On joining Breastcancer.org, Anne says, “I am thrilled and very proud to be part of such a dedicated and talented team.”
Melissa Bollmann-Jenkins, community director, manages a team of moderators to help connect the women and men who visit our discussion boards with the information and support they need. She gathers insights from the community to improve Breastcancer.org's medical and personal content and is an advocate for patient needs within the industry.
Debbie Buchwald, proposal writer, identifies and evaluates corporate and foundation prospects, develops grant narratives, and supports Breastcancer.org's institutional fundraising strategy. “As a breast cancer survivor with a passion for digital health, I am honored to support the invaluable role that Breastcancer.org plays in the lives of so many individuals.”
Ella Chick, communications director, creates content to build awareness and support of our mission and the impact we have on the communities we reach.
Kristine Conner, contributing writer, has researched and written many of Breastcancer.org's educational content sections, in addition to updating existing content as needed. She has been a medical and health writer since 1998, bringing her talent to the National Cancer Institute as well as major cancer centers, hospitals and health systems, schools and universities, and other nonprofits.
Jamie DePolo, senior editor, researches and writes our Research News articles and is voice of the Breastcancer.org Podcast. She has more than 20 years' experience crafting science stories for non-scientists. "I’m very proud to be a part of Breastcancer.org," Jamie says. "It’s extremely gratifying to hear from women who tell me I’ve helped them understand something about this disease or their treatment."
Caroline Durham, associate director of content, oversees all additions and updates to the website content, ensures the site is functioning properly, and helps implement digital initiatives. "It's so satisfying to know that the work we do is helping people through what could be one of the most difficult times of their lives. It's a big responsibility and a big honor."
Liam Emberson, data and analytics specialist, manages the gift and donor database and handles reporting needs for the fundraising department. Patty Myers Evans, vice president of finance, is responsible for the financial health of Breastcancer.org, overseeing the accounting and budgetary processes. "After being diagnosed with breast cancer, I found the more I could learn and understand about my diagnosis, the more empowered I was. I look forward to combining my professional skills and a personal passion to help others better understand breast cancer."
Krystyne Garrison, digital marketing manager, manages Breastcancer.org's social media and digital marketing activities, including strategy, creation, curation, and optimization. "As a woman, it’s a privilege to work for an organization dedicated to empowering women and their loved ones by providing thorough, up-to-date information about breast health and breast cancer."
Ashley Hollander, associate development officer, is responsible for fundraising with donors, corporations, and foundations through phone calls, direct mail, emails, and in-person meetings. “I am honored to work for an organization that is incredibly focused and driven toward supporting women and their loved ones through difficult times on a global scale.”

Lisa Kline, vice president of communications, is responsible for the leadership and management of marketing, press and community relations, digital innovation, and content development. Adam Leitenberger, editorial director, leads the editorial team and oversees multimedia content strategy, development, and publication. Rita Lusen, vice president of partnerships and development, is responsible for managing and expanding development functions and corporate partnerships. Of her own breast cancer diagnosis, Rita says, "The site played a critical role in providing information and counsel during my most challenging moments. It's a privilege to bring my professional and personal experience to help expand awareness about this valuable tool."
Cindy Pelton, director of special gifts, works closely with individual donors who have a special interest in Breastcancer.org. "My mother is a three-time breast cancer survivor. When she was going through her treatment, nothing like Breastcancer.org existed. I remember her frustration trying to get reliable information. It is a privilege to help Breastcancer.org reach women around the world 24/7."
Greg Perry supports the content team and assists in community moderation. He publishes articles, identifies content that needs updating as research evolves, troubleshoots technical errors, and assists discussion board members in finding helpful, accurate information, while maintaining a safe and supportive community environment.
Suzanne Rizzo, associate director of partnerships and programs, develops relationships with companies and foundations to further Breastcancer.org's mission, participates in program development, oversees all grantwriting, and manages the deployment of grant-related programs. "I'm honored to be part of an organization that helps people navigate one of the most difficult times in their lives."
Megan Roessler, senior designer, collaborates across departments to develop and design engaging and creative digital and print assets. "Having lost my own mother at a young age to breast cancer, I am proud to work with a team whose mission is to provide information and support to those touched by the disease — something that was not available to my mother as she was going through it herself."
Jen Uscher, contributing writer, develops, researches, and writes educational content, feature articles, and blog posts for Breastcancer.org. Jen has been an science and health reporter for over two decades, writing for Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Kim Wakiyama, event coordinator, works with corporate partners, donors, and friends on all fundraising events, including planning the Baubles shopping event and coordinating the live, silent, and online auctions for Rock the Ribbon and the Garden Party. "The best part of my job is meeting the people who are passionate about Breastcancer.org. They have used the site and are truly grateful for what we do."
Brian S. Wojciechowski, M.D., medical adviser, is a medical oncologist outside of Philadelphia at Riddle, Taylor, and Crozer hospitals. His research has been presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, and he is a speaker on medical ethics and the biology of cancer. Dr. Wojo sees cancer as a scientifically complex disease with psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions.
Maura Wynn, Rock the Ribbon coordinator, is responsible for managing Breastcancer.org's annual gala event logistics, working as the event committee point person, and coordinating sponsorships. Knowing that every guest and sponsor devoted their time and energy to support Breastcancer.org makes my job exciting and fulfilling!"
